A Brief Overview


The AVP, Corporate Communications is responsible for the strategic vision, alignment and positioning of internal and external communications for the business, including executive communications. This includes messaging and positioning, performance management and talent development, meeting and event creative strategy, enterprise-wide strategic campaigns, and serving as a communication liaison to Safelite's parent company, Belron. This role also oversees communication platforms, engagement/culture shaping, content development, project management, and leads a team of communication experts. The AVP partners with members of the senior leadership team to drive clear, concise and targeted communications across the organization.

 

What you will do

 

Corporate Communications Strategy

  • Develops and drives the company’s strategic vision and positioning of internal and external communications.
  • Works collaboratively with the VP, Safelite Communications to develop executive communication strategies and crafts effective communication materials that deliver consistent, compelling messages and experiences in creative ways (and through various platforms) that build and inspire confidence in the long-term strength of the company and the leadership team.
  • Develops end-to-end enterprise-wide strategic campaigns that provide new thinking and approaches to drive results and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of internal communications through all channels.
  • Responsible for managing communication for key business imperatives through innovative and creative approaches. 
  • Provides counsel, influence and challenge to the thinking of business leaders.
  • Builds communication capabilities across the organization through educational tools, project intake and processes that allow for greater voice and tone consistency with message development and distribution.
  • In partnership with Belron, identifies opportunities for cross-collaboration, problem solving, project sharing, etc. 

 

Executive Communications

  • Develops and manages executive communications strategies, including speeches, presentations, talking points, and messaging for senior leaders.
  • Ensures executive communications align with organizational goals, tone, and brand voice.
  • Partners with senior leadership to craft compelling narratives that inspire confidence and engagement among internal and external audiences.

 

Meeting and Event Management

  • Oversees the planning, organizing and strategy of various corporate events
  • Manages relationship with vendors and external partners.

 

Sponsorship and Safelite Foundation Communication

  • Oversees, develops, implements and refines public relations, sponsorship and philanthropic communication strategies.
  • Keeps apprised of relevant industry, company and business segment developments while maintaining finger on pulse of associates.
  • Acts as corporate spokesperson responsible for protecting the integrity and reputation of the organization.
  • Advises executives about significant trends, stakeholder concerns and competitor actions that may impact the company.

 

Engagement and Culture Shaping

  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to develop communications and programs that enhance associate satisfaction, promote DEI and strengthen overall associate engagement.
  • Supports employee value proposition and listening strategy initiatives. Leverages learnings to develop and strengthen communication and change management strategy to Safelite associates.

 

Communications Platforms Strategy & Management

  • Oversees the development and implementation of communication technology solutions that enables the right messages are delivered using the most effective delivery method.

 

Performance Management

  • Builds, manages, and mentors a high-performing team, using a supportive and collaborative approach to grow capability and champion growth.
  • Leads the communications team including the Director, Communications, Manager, Field Communications and Sr. Specialist, Communications.
  • Responsible for performance management and talent development.
  • Solicits feedback from project leaders on an ongoing basis to identify ways to improve, elevate and evolve the team’s capabilities.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with all policies and standards.

 

What you will need 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years experience in internal and corporate communications at fast-paced and dynamic organizations.
  • 4-6 years experience as a people leader with a proven track record of developing talent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask with precision in meeting deadlines.
  • Strategic mindset for communications messaging to a targeted audience.
  • Customer Service Focus – Is viewed as a valued thought partner and trusted advisor by senior leaders across the business and is known as a respected leader of a professional communications team. For example, builds dynamic communication strategies that when implemented help drive associate engagement and results. 
  • Strategic Mindset – Provides innovative and creative communication solutions that deliver on the goals of the business both internally and externally. Identifies ways to drive communication priorities to targeted audiences resulting in measurable outcomes. For example, leverages opportunities to establish best practices for communication outreach.
  • Drives Results - Consistently monitors impact of communications through available data and provides recommendations for greater impact. For example, develops a methodical communication cadence that delivers the right message to the right audience at the right time in ways that demonstrate action and results in achievement of goals.
  • Displays Communication Acumen - Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft dynamic, creative and inspiring messaging. Experienced at leading a team of communicators and challenging the norm to heighten communication deliverables in ways that educate, surprise and delight. Experienced in developing internal and external communications strategies to a national organization with regional nuances and considerations, as well as working at a global level. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and able to form a cohesive and effective outcome from potentially incongruous facts (or lack thereof) and individual perspectives.
  • Project Management – Manages complex situations with the ability to quickly pivot with agility and balance given changing priorities. Very strong project management skills and ability to multitask with rapidly changing deadlines. Thought partner to senior leaders with the ability to translate work and messaging to additional audiences as necessary. Deadline driven for overall effectiveness and ability to prioritize messaging to avoid over-saturation.
  • Proactive Thinker – Seasoned, strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to influence, identify opportunities to evolve and enhance communications that drive results. Identifies opportunities to enhance and weave communications through various platforms for full message delivery to the intended audience.
