A Brief Overview
The Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy plays a critical role in advancing the company's legislative, regulatory, and political priorities. This position supports strategic engagement with U.S. federal, state, and local governments, as well as foreign and industry partners. The Director will represent the company across all 50 states and occasionally at the federal level, advocating for policies that protect and promote business interests.
Key responsibilities include managing political programs such as the PAC, grassroots engagement, and bill tracking. The Director will also help shape public policy strategies, build relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
What you will do
Legislative Advocacy & Policy Engagement
Monitor government activities that may impact the business and its clients.
Support strategic planning for regulatory and legislative initiatives.
Advocate for or against legislation and public policy changes aligned with company priorities.
Communicate policy positions to government officials and industry partners.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal officials, lobbyists, and trade associations.
Represent the company in Ohio and other jurisdictions as needed.
Engage with national lobbying groups and industry coalitions.
Political Program Management
Oversee grassroots engagement and bill tracking systems.
Develop and manage PAC and corporate giving strategies in compliance with campaign finance laws.
Recommend and manage PAC Board members, including training and education on legal responsibilities.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare briefings and reports for leadership on legislative developments.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including registrations and filings.
Stay current on legislative trends and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
What you will need
Bachelor's Degree in political science, Public Administration, Business, or related field required
Master's Degree MPA or JD preferred
7-9 years in government affairs, public policy, or a related field required
Experience working with elected officials, trade associations, or advocacy organizations
Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting policy briefs and testimony.
Strategic thinking and policy analysis capabilities.
Project management and organizational skills.
High ethical standards and sound political judgment.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Familiarity with auto glass repair industry issues (preferred).
Knowledge of lobbying laws, ethics, and reporting requirements.
Proficiency in legislative tracking tools and public affairs platforms.
Ability to influence policy through coalition-building and direct advocacy
Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Established relationships with industry stakeholders and advocacy groups
